Eliot Koerner

A photo essay reflecting the contrast of freedom and confinement in the fate that bartenders face. The service industry is overlooked by people who crave the security of a 9 to 5. Bartenders make a living off those who think that way.

Within a trade that is welcomed worldwide, the bartender roams the world and soaks up each culture until they’ve soaked up everything a city has to offer.

Such freedom does not come without cost, however. It doesn’t matter how much luggage the
roaming bartender takes with them to their next home, for they’re tied to the baggage of nightlife
and bad habits that come with the job.

One can bounce from city to city at the drop of a hat, but
they can never escape the addictions that their trade survives off.
